Had a couple of green herons fly about a few days ago. Seemed to settle in a corner near the road. Heard one alarm calling today, and wonder if they are trying to nest. Highwater is nothing to them. We are on evacuation notice, but everything seems to be cooperating and we'll see about 2012 levels last we heard from the district. fingers crossed. These are the years when I earn my user name.

Did some early morning birding at Willband and was pleases to find two Green Herons (FOY for me). I had a total of 26 species (plus a falcon of some kind, too high up to id, carrying a captured bird). I located a male Bufflehead in the "creek" running beside the entrance path. Saw my first along Hope River Road near Young Road in Chilliwack the other day. It was an adult flying over the road.
