Dian and I hit Iona sewage ponds today. It was low tide but we manged some shorebirds. Canada Goose 25 Blue-winged Teal 18 Cinnamon Teal 2 Gadwall 2 Mallard 15 Rufous Hummingbird 3 American Coot 2 Killdeer 1 Least Sandpiper 6 Pectoral Sandpiper 22 The most common sandpiper here today. Slight decurved bill with a yellow base. Yellow legs. Sharp delineation line on the breast. Western Sandpiper 2 gull sp. X Bald Eagle 2 Northwestern Crow 10 Tree Swallow X Violet-green Swallow X Barn Swallow X Marsh Wren 12 European Starling X American Robin 6 Cedar Waxwing 1 House Finch 3 American Goldfinch 4 Song Sparrow 4 Spotted Towhee 1 Yellow-headed Blackbird 1 Red-winged Blackbird X Common Yellowthroat 7 Pectoral SandpiperWestern SandpiperBlue-winged Teal with Pectoral Sandpiper
