Around 11:00 this morning my wife and I encountered a flock of 43 rosy-crowns on the dyke just west of Appel Rd. in Agassiz. They were amazingly tame and three times flew out over the field and then returned and landed right in front of us. It seems as though they were gathering grit and viewed us almost as if we were cattle. On the last sweep they actually landed on either side of us at no more than 5 meters from where we stood. Such an unexpected treat.
