I walked the trails of Fishtrap Creek/Ellwood/McClure Parks yesterday. It was a very noisy morning with the Pine Siskins producing a lot of noise, there were not too many Canada or Cackling Geese but there was a lot of Gadwalls, Buffleheads and Northern Shovelers around. I came across multiple small flocks of Golden-crowned Kinglets, there seemed to be a lot of chasing and displaying amongst the males. Did I do something wrong? by Nick, on Flickr I also came across a lone Ruby-crowned Kinglet it was doing a lot of calling but it had no friends around. I suspect they will be arriving soon, if last year was any indication. Ruby-crowned Kinglet by Nick, on Flickr. In the midst of some very aggressive Golden-crowned Kinglets a little Brown Creeper appeared. It was doing it's usual thing of climbing up tree trunks looking for food and them moving to the next one. "Whats over there?" by Nick, on Flickr I only saw one Annas Hummingbird briefly but later in the day I had my first of the year Rufous Hummingbird visit my feeder.
