Late this morning on the backside trail of East Sector I was very surprised to see a Lewis's Woodpecker on a snag. It flew out to a top of another snag for a minute or so before moving again northerly direction. This is on the Bridal Trail section that runs closest to Bear Mountain. About halfway down the trail there's an open area with several snags.
Most sightings of Lewis's for our area are early September. I think we have one or two spring records as well. You never know what you'll see out there.
