This morning I was checking out the trails at Aldergrove Regional Park and when I came out of the shady forest I spotted this Anna's Hummingbird searching a conifer; I knew there were no flowers for it so it had to be looking for bugs. It spotted a spider's web and it proceeded to pluck the spider's captured prey from the web for it's own breakfast. I have a feeder on my balcony and I am happy to feed the hummers, lately they have been gone most likely finding more protein to feed the babies on the nest. Perhaps that is what this Anna's Hummerbird was doing filling up on bugs to go back to feed it's babies. Anna's Hummingbird by Nick, on Flickr
