Yesterday in the fields at the east end of Luckakuck Way in Chilliwack were 70 odd Snow Geese with a few thousand Cackling Geese. I saw a smaller flock out on Sumas Central as well as some flying over at Island 22.
On the topic of white waterfowl I saw (heard) my first Tundra Swans, 16 of them, flying over Island 22 yesterday and there were a half dozen Trumpeter Swans on Sumas Central Oct 28. Incidentally I saw my first swans of the fall, four of them, on October 3rd but wouldn't see any more until the 28th.

The field just south of Luckakuck has about 250 snow geese with about 1200 cacklers. No snow geese at sardis park...

Yesterday evening I saw about 750 Snow Geese with a couple thousand Cackling Geese. That's the most I've seen out in the Fraser Valley. As dusk fell the Cacklers left northwards where I assume they'll spend the night on the Fraser backwaters somewhere. The Snows were still feeding when I left.
On the subject of Snow Geese, Rick Whyte was telling me about 13 adults he saw on the Coquihalla Highway. They were in the median at the old toll booths grazing away. The poor weather may have grounded them. Crazy sight!

I saw the huge flocks of snow geese and cacklers while driving past on the freeway driving past the other day. Nice numbers!

This evening over Chilliwack two huge flocks of Snow Geese flew over heading in a NW direction. They may have come off fields south of the highway (Banford Road area?). I took photos to help get a better count but I've estimated the two flocks to have totaled around 2,000 birds!

There were a few hundred on Banford Road south of the highway including two blue phase ones. I dont think Ive ever seen the blue ones in the Fraser Valley. Beautiful birds. Dsc_8127 by Gord G, on Flickr

Awesome find and photo, Gord! We had 56 Snow Geese fly over Sardis Park yesterday, they had the Blue Morph with them, very exciting for us. Have a good weekend, Bruce and Joanne

Awesome sightings everyone! First spotted over 200 snow geese with about 100 swans on Prairie Central Rd., east of Gibson Rd. on late afternoon on Nov. 7. Then on the morning of the 15th there was a group of about 30 snow geese with a mixed group of gulls and swans just inside the dyke on Tuyttens Rd. here in Agassiz.
