I shot this video of a tree swallow collecting feathers for his nest. I used to drop the feathers and he'd grab them out of mid-air. I let them go closer and closer and this year, he took them from my fingers, and last evening to the delight of my family, from my mouth!!! Video of that next (I hope!). www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAnrzcLW2S4www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAnrzcLW2S4

Lots of patience, Gord!--in this vid, it seems to show that they are indeed as gregarious as their reputations---Al

Seems it caught you with a wing tip, Gord-- again--it bodes true that "they" rather than "We" put up with "the other". I envy you the opportunity for such close contact, however, in MY case I would class my contact, in this case as being, "uncomfortable" (for me) which is why I state that I am envious for your patience and knowledge as relates to these fellows gregarious natures, and how to "handle" the situation---thank you in absentia for the great show--wish it had been me---Al

Hi Al!
Surprisingly, it didnt take too much time before this guy would take from the fingers. There was a period of being very still while his trust was gained though.
I think I just flinched as I didnt feel any wingtips. I felt a bit of wind and heard the snap of his beak though. His beady little eyes were watching closely though, but I didnt stare as I suspect they watch our eyes and are more scared if we stare.
