In late December a Brambling was discovered in the Mission area with a flock of Juncos at a feeder. Subsequent visits were unsuccessful in seeing it again. Due to the location of the bird and residents extremely dedicated to privacy (and given that the bird seems to have moved on) the sighting was not immediately published. But, since the sighting will be going on the monthly challenge and, at some point, into the record books on the website, I figured the context in which it exists should be shared. It would be nice if one of these interesting birds would show up in a local park where conflict with private property is not an issue. Keep an eye on your feeders; you never know what will show up! This is only the second Brambling for the Fraser Valley. Going to Asia is a great place to see hundreds of them in one day though!
