Two male lazuli buntings were at the main gate at Island 22 in north Chilliwack this afternoon.

Bird Alert for July 24, 2007
From Colony Farm in Coquitlam the male indigo bunting is still present on the Mundy Creek Trail and is possibly nesting. Also at Colony Farm behind the Forensic Building (access on the gravel road/path north of the facility entrance) is a northern mockingbird that's been in the area for several days.

Bird Alert for July 20, 2007
A hike up Cheam Mountain produced a fine 25 species. Highlights included 2 white-tailed ptarmigan, 30 grey-crowned rosy-finches, 2 golden eagles and 2 pine grosbeaks.

Bird Alert for July 16, 2007
A pair of peregrine falcons were hunting rock pigeons at No. 3 Rd and Highway #1 in Abbotsford.
Lazuli buntings are in full breeding mode at Island 22 main gate with others further down the dyke past the campground. There is an estimated five to six pairs in the area.
At the Stave River in Mission, a female purple martin was observed at a nest box.

A Lesser Sand-plover, a off track migrant from Siberia, has been present between 104th and 112th Streets at Boundary Bay for several days. The falling tide is the best time to see this bird among the semipalmated plovers.

The male indigo bunting continues at Colony Farm Regional Park in Coquitlam. He can still be found by walking from the parking area just over the tracks on Colony Farm Rd head north about 100 metres. This bird appears to be breeding with a female lazuli bunting and is likely to remain in the area for some time.

The black-throated sparrow from Abbotsford was looked for but not relocated.

A male American redstart was seen singing at Cheam Lake Wetlands just east of Chilliwack.
From yesterday, a black-throated sparrow was seen in Abbotsford by two different people. The location where it was last seen was at the intersection of Clearbrook and Peardonville Road at 2421 Clearbrook Rd. Birders are reminded to be aware of private property and residents' privacy while looking for this bird.
