Hi everyone.
As I prepare updates to the site, I thought I should indicate where there are holes (data, photos etc) for the impending updates. This will give you a chance to provide what you might have so I can do it at once and create a more complete species account from the start.
Dave, Ill take you up on the offers for the Costa's and Anna's hummer photos. It's nice to have local images but out of town are great too.
Next, I plan to cover the corvids (jays and crows). Aside from being most pleased to get any photos of all species in the family, what I dont currently have are:
Photos: Blue jay (poor one) American magpie Western scrub-jay (I have poor ones)
Data: Blue jay American magpie
Other sections of the site:
Site Guides: Abbotsford/Mission area (Willband Creek Park, Matsqui Trail...?)
Species Spotlight: Share the details of a favorite or interesting bird species

FYI, I updated the site yesterday with new species as well as refreshing the photo gallery. Apologies for not updating sooner. I hope that will be the longest period of time between updates! Remember that any contributions are most welcome and encouraged.

Hi Gord, here is some Blue Jay date.
One bird seen December 9, 2002, December 28, 2002, January 10, 2003, and March 29, 2003 at a feeder at 12th and Horne in Mission.

Thanks Brent. While this is no doubt the same bird, the gaps between sightings are very interesting. Maybe this bird had a 'route' and only stopped by these feeders on occassion?

HI Gord,
yah, it was the same bird. I work close by so I would stop in once in a while to see if the bird was still around. It would usually hit this same feeder everyday, according to the property owners.

Excellent. Ill put the dates you got it but put down that it was in the area the whole time. Great record! Do you think it was around later than March 29?

I don't know. March 29 was the last date I looked for it and I didn't hear of it after the date. Possibly, nobody was looking.

Brent, I always wonder what else 'slips through our fingers' out here for similar reasons (few birders, lots of open space etc.) Anyway, FYI, the homepage of the website is a little messed up at the moment. My bad. I have a backup and will fix ASAP. It still works, it just looks silly at the moment . Also, The Weather Network is having issues as well. You might notice that some of the locations on the weather button are now "NA". Hope and Chilliwack (still minus the weather symbol) are still there. I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that the local forecast was messed up for the last week.
