Our resident pair of hairy woodpeckers have begun feeding their hatchlings as of yesterday. We know this because they are at the window at 6 am or earlier lining their beaks with suet or nut pieces. Just a few minutes ago, the male and female dared to arrive at the same time, and the rattle call was unbelievable, as usual the male won the right to line his beak with nut pieces first while she waited patiently, hmmmmm.... well, they are good parents.
