Great day of back-yard birding in S.E. Langley. In addition to all the regulars, a flock of at least 30 Violet-green Swallows arrived today (first seen this year) a Northern Shrike and a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers visited our yard. We often have Pileated Woodpeckers but the pair is unusual. Interesting observation on the Northern Shrike - we have had one visit twice before - March 27th last year and again Nov. 26th last year. It must be during migration that we see them.

Wow; What great shots of the shrike and the Pileated Woodpeckers!! Tried to go for a run today at the Hope Airport to check on a report of an American Pipit and, for the first time this year, was driven back with wind, and what appeared to be sleet. Now it is sunny, and ( almost ), warm. Must be spring in B.C. Cheers, Thor
