Sweet!! Great shots! How many total did you have? I think bushtits have to be one of the cutest of the little birds along with chickadees and kinglets. Now you keep a close eye on these guys. I bet now that they've found your suet they'll be back on a regular basis as they make their rounds. They might bring a special guest, in the way of a gnatcatcher or something just as great, with them one day... You take many, many picture if so oui?

Wow, Bushtits on your suet feeder! Awesome pictures of awesome birds, Al. I have never seen bushtits on any of my feeders. Great work on the shots of a Yellow-shafted Flicker. I have never had him on my feeder either. Pretty soon you are going to have people paying money to watch your feeders. Dave

Thanks, Dave--but not likely! ;D ;D Now I can only hope that as I am on the ground floor, and in the rear of the building where it is not too busy, I MAY get some Hummingbird action this spring, and "perhaps" if the area is attractive enough keep 'em coming-- ???Al

Wow! Feel privileged! In all the years I've been hanging suet out I've never had a Bushtit come near.....even when there have been flocks of them out in the bush not all that far away. You must be doing something right to have Bush Tits and a Yellow Shafted Flicker show up all within a week or so. Over here it is boring! boring! boring! at the feeders. Even the Red Wing Blackbirds totally vacated the place for 3 days. A Cooper's Hawk that is hanging around isn't helping any.

Thanks, Kathy--I do indeed feel priveledged, however the "you must be doing something right" I will substitute for right place/right time/right offering=LUCKY! these fellows have not been back since (to my knowledge) although I spotted a tiny fellow who was here/on the suet feeder/gone before I got a good look, may have been a resident chickadee? I feel that although I have a "commercial insect suet block" I agree with your view that it may be too hard for these fellows to get at with any consistency--ooops, I just looked at the "culprit" while I typed and saw 2 more of the little guy's, spooked quickly and left! Well! luck has it! and happy I could offer what they were keen on ;D ;D---Al

About the 'commerical' suet.....I've only noticed a problem with it when the temperatures are well below freezing. I've got 'commercial' stuff out in my suet cages at the moment too - but it hasn't attracted any bushtits yet!!

I just had the Bushtits back, --I left the suet feeder out (even though I thought that the users were Starlings!) just in case, (while I was away) someone would have need of it. There were approximately 7 --rushing here and there, and then gone after no more than 10 minutes, which leads me to believe --I am "on their circuit"?--no matter--I have not really seen these guy's since the snow, inclement weather when they first showed up, so am happy for their (sighting) --return?--Al

JUST spotted a single bushtit --he was here momentarily on the suet feeder --then gone! Makes me wonder if there are some around, making this part of their territory, or will they be gone soon to a more "brushy" area?--Gord perhaps you will help with the question of habitat of these guys, and perhaps if they "could" be nearby, I will leave the suet feeder out as long as possible--I think that if the consensus is to leave it up--I will "freshen" it ---Al

The Bushtits came back and forth for somwhere near an hour, I can only assume that they have indeed added my feeder to their "route" and I shall freshen up the suet block for them--hopefully they will nest nearby. Tried (unsuccessfully) to get a couple of shots--I was, it seems, too far away--out of good position--photobucket would not take a blow-up of them?---Al
