This morning had a Band Tailed Pigeon in my backyard at the bird feeders. If this was April or May, that would not be unusual but I have never seen a Band Tail in November before.

The Band Tail Pigeon has become a regular to the back yard and I have found out why. Apart from the two extreme outer feathers he has no tail. His flight is sort of wobbly as he hasn't much of a 'rudder'. Other than that he appears in good health and can certainly tuck the food away. I imagine I'll have him as a regular for most of the winter, or at least until his tail grows in. Kind of neat to have something different to look at.

I agree with you Kathy, as I am so (rather) new at this, it is extremely gratifying to see anything new at the feeder, rather than the everpresent English Sparrow! As I stated on another string, I live rather a bit away from any "green" areas--so nice to know I am not the only one that is able to enjoy this--Thanks for sharing--Al
