The Juncos have returned to the yard, snapping up everything thrown from the hanging feeders and happily joining the rail feeders. I guess that means that it has been cold enough at the higher levels or that all the easy pickings have disappeared up higher. I expect the towhees should start arriving soon.
Last week in the yard, we watched English Sparrows, Purple Finches, Bush Tits, Nuthatches, Brown Creeper, Flicker, Pileated WP, Goshawk, Hairy WP, Fox Sparrows, as well as the returning Juncos. Some other mystery birds came and went before we could identify them.

Welcome to the site!
It sounds like you have a great birding yard! I wouldn't mind if a Goshawk stopped by in my yard!
Spending some time on the deck yesterday, I noticed lots of Juncos around as well. We had a few Towhees in the underbrush also. Lots of hawks flying around as well, and there seems to be more Vaux's Swifts than previous years. I write "seems" because it is probably that I am just noticing them more.

To share photographs on this forum, you must first upload the image onto the web. If you have a website, that is perfect. If not, you can create a free account at photobucket.com/Once you have your image on the web, all you have to do to include it in a message is to: 1. Right click on the image. 2. On the menu that pops up, left click on 'properties'. 3. In the properties menu, locate the line that says 'Address: (URL)' 4. Here you will see a URL. For example, if you right clicked on the 'insert image' icon located above the frowning yellow face above where you type your message, you would see the URL www.proboards.com/v4images/img.gif5. Highlight the URL www.proboards.com/v4images/img.gif, right click on the highlight and left click on 'copy'. 6. Now, come to your message and place your curser where you want the image to go. 7. Click on the icon. 8. The 'tags' [ img ][ /img ] will appear where your curser was. (note: the spaces between the '[' and 'i' are there for this example, there should be no spaces) 9. Place your curser between the two 'img' tags. 10. Right click and on the menu that pops up, click 'paste'. You are done. Click on preview to see if it worked.
