Chris Buis emailed me today and he photographed a Lesser Goldfinch at his place today in the afternoon. Birders are welcome but do not point cameras, scopes binoculars towards the hotel windows. It is at the Brookside Inn 2379 Chardonnay Lane. Thanks Chris for passing this along. Here's one of the photos. I will post the other two later [/url]

Wow, that's the second Lesser Goldfinch seen at Brookside Inn. It's definitely a different bird, as the other one was a female. That's pretty cool! I bet it will stay around for a little while, especially with the snow coming!

Chris, thanks for the update.
Good to see what has to be the American Goldfinch Capital of BC at the moment bringing some neat company. The sunflower chips are sure the ticket for keeping goldfinches et al happy

Hi We had a large flock of these birds at our feeders this winter at the Popkum Wetlands. We feed shelled sunflower seeds. I just thought they were America Goldfinches with winter plumage. I will have to learn more about the identification of these birds.
