So I suck at computers...Anyway John Vooys and I had a superb hike on Cheam. Warm and pleasant, not too birdy.
A Ruffed Grouse Am Robin 1 Varied Thrush Many, many Pine Siskins Heard some Red Crossbills Several Golden-crowned Kinglets 1 American Pipit, 2 Ravens A group of out of range birds we suspect were Horned Larks...not too birdy, then a juvenile Broad-winged Hawk circled around below us, awesome bird especially as I have only had a less then stellar siting in Ft St John. Awesome to see one in my own mountains! An Adult Redtail then showed up. Next a gorgeous very light Rough-legged Hawk drifted along over the ridge, came right overhead. Then a small accipiter dove down behind a near by ridge. Next another Red Tailed Hawk drifted by and finally an adult Golden Eagle came by right overhead! It seems like this was a great raptor day...on our way down we saw 2 adult Golden Eagles, perhaps making 3 individuals. *Also Pacific Wren

Good job finding the Broad-winged Hawk! Only the second confirmed record for the area.

Looks like it was a great outing Ed and John. Nice work with the Broad-winged too. Were there any bears?

Thanks for the replies. No bears as in most years. The area is extremely dry, nothing green and no berries...I wonder if the bears hibernate early or just find a food source at a lower elevation.
