An update to what we thought was a swan now looks like an American White Pelican. It's been sitting on the sandbar near Greenwood Island, Fraser River, Hope. It doesn't look well.

The American White Pelican left early this morning, it seems it just needed a long rest before continuing its journey.  Here's the best photo I could manage with my point-and-shoot camera, I just couldn't get any closer, but once the pelican repositioned itself I could clearly see the bill through the binos and its orange coloured feet and legs:  Tony |

One of my favorite birds. Been quite a while since we have had one in the region. Glad it flew away.
