I was delivering some rescue Minis to their new home today. I noticed some bird feeders in the front yard when we arrived and then when we were chatting with the adopters, WOW, the biggest woodpecker I've ever seen showed up! I only had my cell phone to take a photo with though. Terribly ironic as my next stop was to pick up my new 400mm prime! LOL So, then I had my new lens and my new camera. It was totally socked in with clouds, pouring rain, and 5:00pm. So what's a girl to do? Go Birding anyways, of course! I love this thing! 95% of my shots were as good as sunny day shots with the old camera I was borrowing, and that was just shooting on manual because I have no idea what I'm doing yet. LOL I couldn't be happier and can't wait until Monday when I can spend the day testing this thing out! Here's one of my favourites from my soggy, dark shoot... a House Finch putting on a show! This is one of my usual spots to shoot the little guys, and I never could even try to get the birds in this particular tree with only 250mm of reach. I am so thrilled with 400mm! Yippeeeeee! Okay, let's see... one more... this one's kinda cool with the female House Sparrow in front and the male behind. I think I'll try for more like this with the little pairs. The sky's the limit now!
