I think this is a rare one, sorry if it's not... my book says it is.  LOL  He was hunting, caught a big worm and devoured it.  I was shooting into the light with my poor little lens, so the pictures weren't the greatest, but it was very cool to watch!  Here's the best one.

Hey Becke nice shot. Not an easy bird to get a photo of as they often fly away.

Unfortunately, Kestrels in the area are not rare. If you ever what to know if a species is rare or not you can check the checklist for the area here

Okay, cool!  Thanks for the list!  Silly book.  

This guy just kept flying down the power line beside the road.  He didn't mind me following him too much, I stayed in the car and shot out the window.  Got him in a few spots and then left him there, doing his thing.  I got a few blurry flying shots too... need to work on those!
