Cassin's Finch male at feeder today. Last time I saw them here was the winter of 2001. That year Jason Osterhold and I saw a flock of 64 on Jan-16-2001 in the Ryder Lake area they stayed around till May dwindling till I saw the last one on May 6th. I will have to get out and see if there are more around. Good birding!

Good find. I think I saw at least a couple from my home in May 2011 when I lived in Agassiz.

The sun was shining through the cap so red. I have a record in Agassiz in 2002 and many for 2001 at home and around Ryder lake and one from home. I know I saw them on Fairfield Island 1 2002 but there is no record on my computer.

Hi Denis, We had 4 or 5 CAFI at our feeder in the winter of 2007-08. It was the perfect opportunity to see the differences between the 3 carpodacus finches as they were coming with both Purple and House Finches for about a week. With that side by side view you can really see the differences easily. Hope he sticks around for a while.

I was on the phone with Denis when he first spotted this beauty! Good bird for around here Denis. I think Isaac's birds were the last sighting before yours.
