I was in the area so I detoured to Lakemount Rd and parked at the east end of the gun range. Walked the small the creek, lots of Song Sparrows a few Golden-crowned, Lincoln's and Savannah Sparrows. When I was coming back to my car I heard a sharp chip note. Thought Swamp Sparrow, got brief but good looks to confirm. I have seen this species three times now but all three times it has never cooperated. Did get some photos. This area is great for sparrows and has great habitat for Swamp Sparrows so it is worth checking out. Drove through Sumas Prairie on the way home and saw a Ring-necked Pheasant, a Mourning Dove (used to seeing EC Doves on the wire) and a Coyote.

Nice find Chris! I've checked there a couple of times earlier in season, without success. It was there again today though. I got some reasonable looks but was too far for pics.

Great to hear it is still present Ed. If the weather stays the way it is it could be there for at least a few days.

John Vooys and I saw the Swamp Sparrow again today. He's a bit shy but did make a couple of appearances. He is a pretty little bird. We saw several lincoln's and many Song Sparrows as well.
