Hi fellow birders:
Though I'm not the first one to see the Blue Jay in Hatzic this past 1 1/2 to 2 months, I have been priviledged to be the 1st from our site, and hopefully not the last. I realize many of you have seen this jay on one or more occasions. However, would this be a Lifer for many of you?
I talked to the homeowners of the property where I experienced seeing the jay. She indicated she would rather have us remain on the street rather than enter her backyard. For those interested in entering the hot spot, her street's name is Brient Drive. You can reach it by heading east down Lougheed Hwy and turning left (north) up Dewdney Trunk Rd. Take your first Left on Brient Drive, and begin your search. Apparently it hangs out on the other side of Brient Drive where the street curves to the left back towards Lougheed. She and a family or two have some feeders there. Check the surrounding area as well such as the 2 streets above- Moffat Ave and Dewdney Trunk Rd. Also check Lawrence Lane and Coleman Street to the West.
Don't forget to familiarize yourself with the different Blue Jay calls. Just like the Steller's Jay, the Blue Jay often announces its arrival, being heard before it's seen. There you go Jason! Good luck!

Jason, I think it might be in your area if I remember the route you, I and Denis used to do.
I also talked to a lady who saw it previously. It's not been seen at her feeder and she lives close by so it's almost for sure the same bird.
Good find there Damion!

Your welcome Martin. Thanks to the prompt from Sherry at WBU that customers in Hatzic were hosting this Jay, many of us will see it. Damion
