There was a White-throated Sparrow feeding with White- crown and Golden-crown Sparrows at the first bend south of Harris Rd on Bates Rd in Abbotsford. A couple of Lincoln Sparrows popped out of the blackberries nearby. Two Wilson's Snipe were flushed by a Harrier and then a low flying Sharpie had an interesting altercation with the Harrier. An Am Kestrel and Red-tailed Hawks rounded out the hour-long excursion. Ed

Always nice to find a White-throated Ed. I wonder if they are becoming more common, or are they just being seen more often because of the increase in the number of birders?
What with the quality of optics, field guides, and the internet, I'm inclined to think the latter.

It's an interesting observation. In recent years, it does seem like we are seeing a greater number of diverse species especially in the Eastern valley. Thanks to Gord and this site(and the internet in general) we have the tools to share info. Ed
