Hi gang:
About mid-morning, Catherine and I took off for Delta. This was to be our first time seeing the snowy owl. The place was packed, and the snowies were fairly close to the dike. What a sight; what cuties. We ended up arriving at the same time as several Nature Vancouver club members. Cathy and I were 5 or 10 minutes late seeing 2 American Tree Sparrows, as a group with scopes had reported seeing. It would've been a LIFER. Oh well, next time.
Later at Reifel we encountered some folks who reported seeing a barred owl. The owl was sitting in 1 of 3 birch trees nestled together. A gentleman with a massive camera and lense had to point out the outline of the owl, which appeared etched into its bark about 12 feet up. Between our binoculars and his camera, we enjoyed a good look. Now, here's my list of birds. I've combined both sites:
1. Red-Tailed Hawk
2. Northern Harrier-m & f
3. Merlin falcon
4. Peregrine Falcon
5. Bald Eagle
6. North Western Crow
7. European Starling
8. Brewer's Blackbird
9. Red-Winged Blackbird
