seeing everyone elses pictures made me want to head out to Boundary Bay to hopefully see some Snowy Owls - boy was I not disappointed! counted 19 altogether, and that was just near the 72nd street entrance. I managed to take a bunch of pictures, but was limited by my equipment and respect for their space - I did not want to get too close ( or stuck in the mud!!) so please excuse the sub-par quality cropped from zoomed in @250 mm

Very nice shot, looks like you were out there Saturday morning.
I watched those 8 for about 3-4 hours they josteled around a bit, and a couple left and a couple more joined them. I was about 70-100 feet away.
The whole time I was there I don't think anyone approached any closer, which was great.
Unlike what I saw a little later towards 64th. I watched for an hour, one guy with his camera basically, try to approach every Snowy at rest as close as possible, only to have them fly away. I think he chased 8 away, you think he would have figured it out after a couple. After he had chased them all away he stayed out there waiting for more I guess. I waited to talk to him, but he never came in, and I did not wan't to head out to the edge of the water where he was. Probably for the best as I was getting chocked just watching. Also I think he was the same guy from 2 weeks ago that we told to stay back a bit. Looked like he was using a 200-300mm lens, maybe he thought it was a Macro lens ??

Thank you for all the kind comments! Martin - Yes, it was Saturday morning that I was out there - I am sure we crossed paths at one point or another! Really sorry to hear about the ignorance of that other guy... you have to wonder what goes through peoples heads sometimes.... maybe someone should be stalking him relentlessly, taking pictures of his every move while he is trying to relax If only it could work out that way!

when we were there a couple of weeks ago there were 3 people extremely close 15 ft and flashes going off crazzzzzy we tried to get them to move but no that was not going to happen!! Then along the dike there was an owl about 10 feet away it was not bothered by anyone or the cameras just sitting enjoying the fame we think!!
