I am sure you have all photographed the Snow Geese at Reifel. I was there yesterday with one of my UFV photo class, and met Shaun and Gary from our site. (spelling?) Just as I walked back to my car, they all took off. Thank goodness, I can still run and got these in time. An amazing sight to see!

We were there yesterday afternoon - what a zoo! - I've never seen so many cars at Reifel. We turned around and went for a walk on the nearby dykes instead - got really close to a Kingfisher too - unfortunately the lighting was less than ideal.
The only Snow Geese we saw were way out. I'd like to get a nice photo of an isolated goose. I remember seeing them right next to the highway in Sumas last year - I wonder if that might be a better place to photograph one.
BTW - Nice capture of the flock

Nice captures Ken! Always a treat to observe the flocks of Snow Geese around the Reifel area.

Thanks everyone for such nice comments. I think photographing a single Snow Goose would be a real challenge. I don't mean a cropped shot of one flying. I have managed this only once at Reifel when one was on the log in the large pond just as you pass the Night Herons on the right. Perhaps he had a claustrophobia issue. How to they manage to fly so close together without bashing each other? Imagine humans at an airport flying their planes so close. And we think we are the all powerful ones!

Nice photos, Ken. Time and again the birds put us in our place.! I wouldn't mind some of their orienteering skills either!
Thanks for sharing the photos.

LOL You are soooo right Martin. That did happen a few days earlier. My photo class and I found ourselves dead centre of a flock that completely covered the blue shy above. Our thoughts - no Chinese good luck please! We were ok!

Nice to hear your are running! We are soon to arrive in Rio but do not expect to see many 'Snow' Geese.
Around 500 trip birds with 350 or so lifers.
Bad internet connections have have halted my blog.
Will post pic's and a few stories after we get back.
