Funny, I've lived in Sardis for two years and I had never been there, so I took the family for a quick walk this afternoon.
Among the multitudes of Mallards, Canada Geese, and Coots, I noticed:
-Greater White Fronted Geese (8) -Northern Shovelers -Pied-Billed Grebes -Cackling Geese -Greater Scaup -American Widgeon -Common Mergansers

I just noticed that the Shovelers weren't on the monthly list yet. There were lots of them at the pond today. (Well, at least a dozen)

Thanks Harrier for posting these lists. It makes us aware what may be out there, and had got me off the couch more than once. I have seen the Shovelers at Sardis Park all winter, including this month. Other regulars this month (and all winter) have been a Cooper's hawk, and as many as 7 Double-crested Cormorants.

Thanks for the addition of Shovelers Harrier. Nice to see those White-fronted Geese are still there.
Love those pictures of the Shovelers Ken.

I tried to get a pic of some Shovelers but they too busy feasting - hardest working birds I've ever seen. They only took their beaks out of the water to breathe.
