Hello fellow birders. Here is an update on my Abbotsford "Big Year". I have passed my goal of 150 species. I am now at 152. Some of the "better" birds this year have been:American Bittern, Ruffed Grouse, Sora, Western Gull, Slaty-backed Gull, Ash-throated Flycatcher, Western Kingbird, House Wren, Hermit Thrush, Lazuli Bunting, Harris's Sparrow, Chipping Sparrow and Red Crossbill. I have roughly 7 weeks left in 2009 and hope to add a couple more. Some of you might be able to help. I have only three owls: Great-horned, Barred, and Short-eared. I could use a White-throated and American Tree-Sparrow. A Rusty Blackbird is also possible. I have also had no luck locating a loon or grebe (other than Pied-billed)! Let me know of such sightings in Abbotsford. Rareties such as Gyrfalcon are also welcome. Phone me/leave a message: 604-8503757, Good birding everyone, John Vooys, Abbotsford.

Great local work on getting 150, John! Hopefully we can stumble across another few that you still need.
