Today Dave called to say that a friend had spotted a bright yellow bird in their backyard. They suspected some kind of warbler. Since I was in the neighborhood, Dave got permission for me to stop by for a look in the east Chilliwack location. I got to a very birdy place and saw a bright yellow bird fly out of the tree it had been spending the last hour in and land in a fir tree. I was pleased to see a nice Yellow Warbler! By far the latest Ive ever seen one. I dont think Ive seen one past very early October and hardly ever hear of any being seen past mid October. I managed a shot of it high up. I was sort of hoping it would land in a nice tree that displays the fall colours to maximize the effect of this being a late fall visitor. On my way to leave, I saw two Orange-crowned Warblers and a flock of over 30 Yellow-rumped Warblers. Orange-crowned Warbler A Yellow-rumped coming back after grabbing a flying insect. Exposure didnt work out so great. A Cooper's Hawk, who nested on the property last year, cruised by and caused a ruckus. Right at the end, the Yellow Warbler was spotted again. Now there's a shot to show the season! ;D The fall coloured leaves on the hazelnut tree are great camouflage for the Yellow Warbler's colours. Thanks to the family for letting me look and for their sharp eyes in spotting it. Good luck in getting that Anna's Hummingbird you saw that morning to stick around too! Thanks to Dave for passing the warbler sighting on!

Wow! Gord, that's amazing I haven't laid eyes on any warbler for weeks! Great shots too.

That is amazing... I guess that yellow would really stand out this time of year.
