Got out and about at lunch today... Checked by the Marinas, the Lagoon and the Miami River (which is the slough that feeds into the lake, originally call Meama {sp}). On the Miami, over a dozen Wood Ducks, with Mallards and Am. Widgeons, as well as a few Song Sparrows and Stellar's Jays. Along the Lagoon, lots of Am. Widgeons, Am. Coots, Mallards, L. Scaups with a couple of Ring-necked Ducks and a Northern Shoveller. Lots of N.W. Crows with the occasional C. Raven flying over. Also spotted a juvie C. Loon, Horned Grebe and a Red-necked Grebe out on the lake. Had an Am. Dipper come in for lunch on the east end of the lagoon as I finished the loop. By the Marinas, a couple of hundred Buffleheads, with L. Scaup, G. Scaup, Barrow's Goldeneyes and a few Coots. Close to a hundred C. Geese and a single Surf Scoter continues with a single male Long-tailed Duck. On Bear Mtn. by the Art Gallery, a Red-brested Nuthatch was calling. p.s. Still a few seals on the log breakwater in the mornings.
