This afternoon I was at Island 22 briefly. I casually noticed a flock of chickadees and both species of kinglets when I saw a little fight between birds with one snapping its beak. A good flycatcher trait and sure enough, a Hammond's Flycatcher landed out in view after catching and eating an insect. A late record! Cute little guy too. My interest thus aroused, I wandered around a bit and came across a huge flock of warblers, kinglets, chickadees, Brown Creepers and Hairy and Downy Woodpeckers. Stunningly enough, I spotted two more Hammond's Flycatchers in one tree and a third down lower on a branch! Wow!!! Also there were at least seven Townsend's Warbler, a Black-throated Grey and tons of Yellow-rumped Warblers. I watched with breath held watching for some rare warbler to show up, but just the regular crew. Wow was it hopping though! Lots of Ruby-crowned Kinglets as well. I figured at least 30. No Clark's Grebe but did see a Western Grebe. More Mew Gulls have moved in as well. Ah, fall migration!! ;D ;D ;D Forgot a picture of a Townsend's Warbler

Some great late finds and nice additions to our monthly bird challenge.
I guess the Grebe has moved on.
