Derek Matthews who is running a banding station at Colony Farm in Coquitlam, phoned me this morning to tell me about a Brown Thrasher he banded!!! He was understandably very excited and awed! What an amazing bird for the area given their eastern North American range. Keep our eyes open. Who knows what will be kicking around. Wow!! ;D

That's a fantastic find!!!! I had to look up to see where this birds range is. Has a Brown Thrasher ever been recorded in B.C. before. I looked at ebird and only saw Sage Thrasher?
You never know what you might come across.

I've just returned from the Badlands of Alberta where we saw them every day, but as far as B.C. goes, I only recall one from McQueen's Slough just east of Dawson Creek two or three summers ago. they're a really neat bird! The beauty of banding stations is they just show us how many uncommon birds slip through without ever being seen otherwise.

Hi All, I just checked for BC records and it is very rare alright. I only found 13 records in BC scattered all over the province. Good Bird! Denis
