Need some help for little and large...one Hawk??and one Wren??..on both accounts I am not sure exactly which ones they are.The hawk was on boundary Road and the Wren was on Iona Island.Agreat day saw lots of birds too many to list Also where on boudary bay is the best birding area?? Thanx Trud i

Everywhere on Boundary Bay is good birding. I believe you have a Marsh Wren and a Rough-legged Hawk in your photos. Did you notice a dark wrist patch on the under wing of the hawk when it flew? That is a good field mark for the Rough-legged. Another good field mark, the feathered legs is quite evident in your photos. The dark crown and the rufous wing coverts on the wren point to the wren being a Marsh.
Must say I thought I was seeing double the way the photos came out side by side on my computer. Ah well, computers are mysterious at the best of times.

Trudi, nice shots of that Rough-legged Hawk male. If I know the area I think it is (dont ask the road name though...I navigate by landmarks, not road names) I used to always see one in that area during my raptor study I did for school. Was always a female though! Janne, pictures are side-by-side for me too! Weird (but no problem!)

Thanx ..I was pretty sure on the Wren but not the Hawk,now i can stroke him off my list! Do you have any idea why the pics came side by side???
