Hi Jeff,
The hawk is a light-phase Swainson's. Notice the long primary extension. It is a common prairie buteo.

Hi Jeff/Lynn: I agree with Lynn that it is a Swainson's Hawk. It certainly makes sense for location. I just don't think I have seen one that light before. Good call. Thor
