A few days ago I enjoyed watching a family of Northern Rough-winged Swallows at Island 22. For awhile, the young ones were fed on the wing by the parents before the little ones landed on the wire for a rest. Hey...is that mom coming with food??? Better get excited just in case!! Guess not... Might as well preen the feathers while I wait. Yum! Poor mom/dad's head fits right inside that hungry mouth!! There were also House Finches around. I am especially fond of their young as they have such great little 'horns' in their first few days from the nest. How can you not want to feed that cute little thing that flaps its wings so endearingly and makes hungry sounds? ;D ;D ;D
