Benny and I took a quick run up to Hope Airport to see what spring had going on. Still lots of robins in flocks on migration. White-crowned Sparrow numbers are building. We heard Puget and Gambell's singing. By later spring it seems mostly the Puget Sound population will be there. Savannah Sparrows look to have just arrived with lots of sorting out territory activity going on with singing and chasing each other around. One brown sparrow caught our eye. We waited it out and a Vesper Sparrow came into view. _0245351 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr Golden-crowned Sparrow still molting _0245355 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr We spotted five Mountain Bluebirds and not far away, was a Say's Phoebe _0245372 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr We had Downy Woodpecker and Pileated Woodpecker in the same area. The Pileated was really going to town on this tree _0245363 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr Yellow-rumped Warblers are building in numbers. A couple flocks of California Gull flew over fairly high up heading east. All were adults which seems to be typical. At home we had a Townsend's Solitaire waiting for us in the backyard. Late this afternoon on South Sumas we had a flock of 11 Black-bellied Plovers. Spring is really picking up!

We've had eight records for the yard! Just checked eBird. A couple could be continuing birds if so, it would be six. Shocked you don't have one yet. Your yard is perfect for them. They're moving through very well today. I saw two and then a single in my travels today.
