At East Sector Park today I had four Bohemian Waxwings fly over. I've not many October sightings for the species outside of high elevations such as Cheam Mountain and Flatiron. I managed a recording to document the encounter. Also here was likely the same Swamp Sparrow as earlier. I wonder if they're increasing in numbers to our area like the White-throated Sparrows are. Hard to be sure if it's increase or just more people looking and I know more what to watch and listen for? Perhaps a bit of both.
At Harrison Lagoon was a Wilson's Warbler. It was quite a paler yellow than the birds that we usually get so I suspect it's one of the northern breeders. Two Lapland Longspurs flew over and I saw my first Canvasback and Lesser Scaup of the fall.

Pretty sure I had a few Bohemian Waxwings a few days ago but couldn't confirm as they took off quickly and were quite far away.

Good chance that they were. There's a few Cedar Waxwings around but very few so odds are in favour of Bohemian. Might be a good winter here for them if this is any indication.
