At Cheam Lake today was a young Northern Goshawk going over. I first saw it being hassled by a Sharp-shinned Hawk and didn't think the Goshawk at first given the size difference that made it look more Red-tailed in size. What is it with Sharp-shinned Hawks on migration by the way. They sure are scrappy (or playful) and almost always the ones to be diving at their traveling companions both large and small. _0231760 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr Late this afternoon, driving along the base of Chilliwack Mountain, had a chance find of an intermediate phase adult Swainson's Hawk. You guessed it, the obligatory Sharp-shinned was in the process of taking a quick dive at it. It went out of sight fairly quickly behind the trees as I was getting the camera out to my disappointment. A real beauty.
