All days with birds are good days but It has been a good/interesting day today with a Black Phoebe at Tuyttens Wetland in Agassiz. It is at the west end of Cutler Road just before where it turns to private. This might be another species to watch for to increase along with the Scrub Jays?
A Solitary Sandpiper was with some Leasts as well as a single each of Lesser and Greater Yellowlegs. The waxwings are putting on a great show flycatching. The young ones are doing well too.

Did a quick check this afternoon with no luck. We saw, just for a minute, two Solitary Sandpipers. A young Peregrine Falcon was successful in catching one!

Those Peregrines should stick to pigeons and house sparrows... Leave the sandpipers out of it Great finds Gord

Black Phoebe continues this morning. It was quite vocal at the east end of Whorley Road then flew south over the road and messed around on the eaves of the red barns for the rest of the time I was there. American Pipits have really moved in and saw my first Myrtle Yellow-rumped Warbler of the fall among the Audubon’s.

The Black Phoebe was flycatching from the fallen Cottonwood spanning the swamp on Cuttler Rd.

What time, Ed? I've been out 9 times trying to get a look over the past couple of weeks, at different times, and have dipped as the British birders say. I was out for a while today checked Cutler rd. and Whorley rd., no luck again. Still fun, lots of others, and 3 yellowlegs hanging in a lots of geese. Lots of White crowned Sparrows, RC Kinglets and Flickers around the house.

Got it! For about 10 seconds this morning flycatching off the fallen cottonwood, before it headed into the brush.

Kev, well done. Was hoping you'd get it for your patch. Is that a new species for the Fraser Valley for you too?

That was a lifer! We occasionally get Say's Phoebe, but I've never seen a black one until today. I'd been out several times over the last couple of weeks with no luck and I was starting to take it personal.
