I had a nice surprise of a Harris’s Sparrow this afternoon in Chilliwack. It’s near the house with the feeders on Chilliwack Central, across from the elementary school. The rain slowed down, and all the sparrows and blackbirds started to come out to perch. Then suddenly, there was this gorgeous sparrow! Happy Day! A couple others have seen it since, so I think it’s pretty reliable in this spot.

Good find!
I was out cycling today and was able to get good views of it. I think it may have been singing a few times but tough to tell due to the traffic noise and my heavy breathing!

Krissi’s Harris’s Sparrow was there yesterday early evening singing away again. Neat to hear one singing. Wonder if it will stick around while it molts into breeding colours.

Benny and I went for a look this morning in a stiff wind. While we were searching for it, Benny spotted this young Golden Eagle going overhead. Proud dad moment here. Managed a poor photo. _0237802 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr We did find the Harris's Sparrow after a bit of a wait as well. _0237818 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr

The one at my grandmother's continues also as of today, the young one that has been there since December.

I saw it again today. A bossy fellow I saw him chasing the white-crowned sparrows a few times. He also sang a few times which is fun to hear. If you look carefully, there's a bird behind that twig. _0238097 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr The breeding plumage is coming in more than when I last saw it. _0238107 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr

Really neat to see how it was transitioned into its plumage. Does it a bit quicker than I thought.
