Hi all: I don't really want to " bury " the thread on our mystery hawk from yesterday, and would welcome more thoughts on the id, but today's a rainy day, and I've been working on my Mexican bird pics, so here they are. I've included locations for all observations, which has some influence over id. Also, I noticed Dave broke up his Calif. pics into segments. I don't know whether there is some technical reason for this, but, I'll do the same. The order of the pictures is basically chronological. Ferruginous Pygmy Owl; Puerto Angel; Oaxaca State- Special hi to Dave!! Yellow-winged Cacique; Puerto Angel; Oaxaca State. White-throated Magpie Jay; San Agustinillo;Oaxaca State. Citreoline Trogon; San Agustinillo; Oaxaca State. Russet-crowned Motmot; San Agustinillo; Oaxaca State. Common Black Hawk; Manialtepec Lagoon; Oaxaca State. Yellow-crowned Night Heron; Manialtepec Lagoon; Oaxaca State. Muscovy Duck; Manialtepec Lagoon; Oaxaca State. Incidentally, for those of you who might be familiar with Pelee Wings Nature Store in Pt. Pelee, Ontario, I took the shots around the Manialtepec Lagoon as part of a boat tour hosted by Michael Malone of the above mentioned store. He, and his wife, spend the winter in Puerto Escondido, and he runs these tours, as part of his business. Tough life!! Cheers, Thor. Thor Manson Hope, B.C.
