There was a nice American Tree Sparrow on Angus Campbell Road in the shrubs south of the bridge over the creek. This is the section of Angus Campbell north of Vye. The little guy posed nicely before going back down into the blueberry field. American Tree Sparrow by Gord G, on Flickr American Tree Sparrow by Gord G, on Flickr

I went to check it out this morning and I am pretty sure I got a glimpse of it but it dived in to the bush and I while I waited it was replaced by Song Sparrows, Savannah Sparrows and White-crowned Sparrows. I thought I had managed to relocate it and took a bunch of photos and when I got home and looked at the images I realized they were of a young White-crowned Sparrow which lacks the spot, the bi-colored beak and the dark feet. For someone like myself it is better to have photographic evidence before claiming a bird. So perhaps I saw it but I did not get a usable image.

This morning Ed Klassen, Larry Hooge and I checked the sparrow spot on Angus-Campbell and we found 2 American Tree Sparrows! John Vooys, Abbotsford.
