Saw this Gull at the Weaver Creek spawning Channel today. I believe it is a pale first winter Herring Gull. There were a few around. I found a fairly good comparison in Gulls Of North America but the picture was taken in Denmark. Any one want to comment?

Len, sorry I missed this one. Been a bit swamped with things of late but nothing better to draw me out than gulls. This guy looks to be a Western x Glaucous-winged Gull hybrid. The heavy thick-tipped bill and plumage caught my eye. Keep in mind when looking at photos from other parts of the world that European Herring Gulls are different looking than 'ours' (American Herring Gull) Thanks for posting!

Thanks Gord-Hybrids aren't displayed in my field guide which probably explains why I was having a problem. I appreciate the input.
