There were lots of birds at Island 22 today making for some good fall migration birding to be had. In the southwestern part of the equestrian area, fondly referred to as the 'Triangle' was a young Blackpoll Warbler which is a real treat to see. The last one I saw, not far from this location actually, was September of 2012 when Chris found one. This is the fourth time I've seen a Blackpoll Warbler, and all have been at Island 22. Actually, all the Blackpoll Warbler records from the Fraser Valley are from good old Island 22!
Not far from the Blackpoll was a really active and vocal American Redstart male looking very sharp in his black and orange.

Nice! I really think I need to move to Chilliwack so I can get out there more than twice a year!

A juvenile blackpoll warbler continues today. It was in a mixed flock at the west end of the park, by the gate on the dike. My second time to see one!
I also saw two Caspian Terns and heard a Greater Yellowlegs calling from the other side of the river.

Paul, great stuff! I wonder if it's the same bird or a new one. I had Greater Yellowlegs recently as well in the park. They're not common there.
