Nice series! I saw my first (wild) Northern pygmy-owl on Mount Woodside on New Years Day while out with some of my family . My brother saw it first. Northern Pygmy-owl by Joel Schmidt, on Flickr Couldn't get a shot of it looking in my direction .

Nick you can find Elk View Rd by taking the #1 to the first exit east of Chilliwack and driving south to Bailey turn left/east and stay right at the fork which is Elk View Rd. Drive for about 15-20 min until Elk View turns to gravel. Go another 200M or so and you are at the clearing where the Owls hunt. I set my GPS for 52000 Elk View Rd (or a number around that) and it took us there.

Thanks much! I have done the elk mtn hike a few times, sounds like its on the way there. I will look tomorrow! Do you have any particular time of day that has worked well for you?

We went up today at about 1pm and they were there but to far away for photos. Yes it is just before the Elk trail.

Hey Dave thanks again!!
We found my lifer owl quite quickly on the lower road @1:30, it would come & go but lots of lens time with it. We actually left it sitting by the road after a few hours as we were well satisfied with the 100+ pics/videos we took! I really appreciate your help pinpointing the spot to go to! 2 other parties were there but had been there quite a bit longer than us.
Best regards,
Nick
