I hardly ever watch the news but flipped past during the intermission of my Maple Leaf game (how about them Leafs?? ) and within a few seconds I said to my family, "I know those people!!" Bryan and Janet King were on the news as they have volunteered to use their well-known sharp birding eyes to aid a family and other volunteers to find a gentleman with Alzheimer’s who has been lost for quite some time. Good on you guys and we're all hoping he is found safe and sound very soon.

Hi Gord. Wow - news travels fast and far! Thanks for the encouragement. We didn't carry binoculars with us, but I did have my camera in case. Walking home past a local high school, what did we see hopping in the grass behind the buildings but an American Pipit. It sure surprised us, never having seen one anywhere near this neighbourhood before. Lots of diagnostic bobbing of the tail, but something about it looked funny, and we noticed what looks like an injured leg. After feeding for a while it did fly away easily. So although we had no luck finding the missing Shin Noh, we were consoled by the unusual bird sighting close to home. Bryan
