I was watching a flock of warblers and I heard a different call note. Turned out to be a Blackpoll Warbler. Common in many areas within our province but in our region they are rare. I got decent pictures of the bird as it was pretty low. This is the third record for Blackpoll Warbler in our region and all three are in September and at Island 22. I saw the bird on the south side of the dyke in the middle of the western portion of the equestrian area. It was making its way southwest. Gord bumped into me and also saw the bird. I should have a full report up tonight. It was very active out there this morning and I tallied 48 species. Most I have ever got at Island 22.

Chris, great bird and wonderful find. Our third record and all from good old Island 22. Nice to have some better pictures of the species for the website too.

All Chris on this one. I was actually on the phone with Dave giving some ideas for fishing (fish are my second vice after birds as I know you'll appreciate, Martin) with the family when I saw Chris looking a bit excited. I ambled over in time after to share in Chris's achievement.
