Mill Lake has these fish congregating along the edges. They seem to range in size from a 3-6 inches. Any ideas as to the species? I have a feeling they may be in spawning mode.

I contacted Mike Pearson, a fish biologist and he says:
Nice picture. It's a pumpkinseed sunfish - an introduced species from the bass family found in most waterways of the Fraser Valley Janne Perrin Harrison Hot Springs

I should have recognized it from a previous picture of one I posted that Gord identified. That spot is quite conspicuous.

Another fish biologist, Ted Burns said this: The fish is a pumpkinseed sunfish and it is in spawning mode. You can see the freshly fanned gravel of the redd beside it. Janne Perrin Harrison Hot Springs

Thanks for posting Len, I saw some the other day in a lake in Langley the other day & snapped some pics and was wondering what they were and who introduced them!
Thanks Janne & Mike for the ID as well!
